* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 11th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption Fee: $800 Grab your flip-flops and your favorite beach towel, because Wave is about to wash right into your heart! This adorable 1–2 year old Yorkie-Poo mix weighs just 10 pounds of pure sweetness and sports a non-shedding coat, making him a wonderful choice for those looking for a low-shedding companion. While some waves come crashing in, this one gently rolls into your lap, curls up beside you, and decides that's exactly where he belongs. Whether you're watching a movie, reading a book, or simply wandering from room to room, Wave is happy to be your tiny shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your constant companion. His signature move? Sleeping upside down with all four paws in the air like he's soaking up the sunshine on a tropical beach! Wave's journey to rescue wasn't an easy one. When he arrived at the shelter, his coat was one of the most severely matted we've ever seen. The neglect had become so extreme that he had to be completely shaved down, and his skin is still recovering from being trapped beneath that painful coat for so long. The discoloration you may notice on his skin is simply part of the healing process and will continue to improve with time, good nutrition, and proper care. His fur is already growing back, and before long he'll have the soft, beautiful Yorkie-Poo coat he was always meant to have. Today is simply one chapter of his story—not the ending. Despite everything he's been through, Wave has never stopped loving people. He was a little shy during his first couple of days in foster care, but by the third day his true personality came bursting through. He is an absolute cuddle addict who believes there is no such thing as being too close to his favorite person. If you're sitting on the couch, he'll be pressed right against you. If you're walking around the house, he'll happily follow behind like your own little furry shadow. He's the definition of a Velcro dog and simply wants to be wherever you are. Wave is wonderfully easygoing. He's much more of a professional lounger than an athlete and is perfectly content spending his day napping, cuddling, and supervising your daily activities. He gets along beautifully with his foster family's two small resident dogs and has also welcomed visiting foster and dog-sitting dogs with polite, friendly manners. While he hasn't been out on neighborhood walks yet, he has shown himself to be a calm, respectful little gentleman around every dog he's met. He is crate trained and settles quietly in his kennel during the day and all night long without a peep. He has a reliable potty routine and does very well with consistency. Like many male dogs, Wave is a marker, so he'll need to wear a belly band while free roaming indoors as he continues learning the house rules. Other than that, he's a wonderfully easy houseguest. He rarely barks, doesn't chew, doesn't dig, and isn't destructive. After settling into his foster home, he even decided his foster dad—who wasn't much of a dog person—was worthy of friendship after all! Wave would thrive in just about any loving home. He'd likely be happy as an only dog soaking up all the attention or sharing his family with another friendly canine companion. More than anything, he's looking for someone who enjoys quiet evenings, warm snuggles, and having a little dog who thinks being by your side is the greatest place on earth.
