Some cookies are sweet...but this Famous Amos is even sweeter. Unlike the cookie, this Famous Amos won't disappear if you leave him on the counter (although he will happily disappear into a cozy blanket for a nap). He's a 4 year old Tibetan Spaniel mix who weighs just a mere 9 lbs and has a heart as soft as his fluffy ears, and once you earn his trust, you'll discover that he's the kind of loyal companion who makes every day a little brighter. Amos came to the shelter as a stray, and understandably, the experience left him frightened and unsure of the world. Thankfully, one of the shelter staff members saw the wonderful dog hiding beneath the fear and welcomed him into their home. There, living with cats and two large dogs, Amos blossomed into the affectionate, playful boy he was always meant to be. Now he's with DPS Rescue, where he's happily sharing his foster home with a 30-pound canine friend while he waits for his forever family. The Best Part of His Day? Everything After Breakfast Amos likes to start his mornings bright and early with a quick potty break before heading right back for a few extra snuggles. Breakfast is serious business— but only if it's wet food. Kibble? He politely declines. Then comes the highlight of every morning: his walk. With his foster sister leading the way, Amos happily trots along, nose to the ground, determined to investigate every fascinating scent the neighborhood has to offer. He's not in a hurry— he's on a mission to sniff absolutely everything. Back at home, Amos is content simply being near his people. Whether he's relaxing beside you, hanging out in his favorite x-pen, or lounging on the couch, he's an easygoing little guy who appreciates a soft place to land. From Shy Guy to Love Bug When Amos first arrived in foster care, he was overwhelmed and unsure. After everything he'd been through, it took him a little time to realize he was finally safe. Once he did, his true personality began to shine. Today, Amos is affectionate, gentle, and full of quiet charm. He loves giving kisses, enjoys curling up for couch time, and has a playful side that comes out with the dogs he trusts. While he can be shy when meeting new people, especially some men, patience and kindness are all it takes for this sweet boy to let his guard down. Watching Amos gain confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of knowing him. A Wonderful Canine Companion Amos loves other dogs and really seems to take comfort from having a canine friend around. After a slightly enthusiastic introduction to his foster sister, they quickly became the best of buddies. He follows her everywhere, playfully tugs on her ears and ankles, and happily joins in whatever adventure she's having. He has also lived successfully with cats and two large dogs in a previous foster home, showing that he's adaptable and enjoys having furry companions around. Easygoing and Full of Heart Amos has a wonderful balance of playful energy and relaxation. He loves stuffies, chew toys, and a good game with his dog friends, but he's just as happy stretching out on the couch for an afternoon nap. One of his foster family's favorite things? The adorable happy noises he makes while rolling onto his back and kicking his little legs in the air. It's impossible not to smile when Amos is feeling that content. Even better, he's a remarkably quiet houseguest who rarely barks. His Perfect Home Amos would thrive in a patient, gentle home that allows him to settle in at his own pace. Having another friendly dog would be a huge bonus, as he gains confidence from watching his canine companions. Daily walks, plenty of cozy places to nap, and lots of love are really all he's asking for. He's house-trained, is comfortable relaxing in an x-pen while you're away, and doesn't need constant attention. He simply wants a family who understands that sometimes the sweetest dogs just need a little time before showing you their whole heart. Because he has shown some hesitation around certain men, a quieter home with patient adopters who will let him build trust at his own speed would help him continue to blossom. Why You'll Love Famous Amos Some dogs burst into your life with endless confidence. Amos does something even more special—he quietly earns your heart. He's gentle. He's loyal. He's endlessly sweet. Every little milestone he reaches feels like a celebration, and every tail wag feels like a gift. Beneath his shy exterior is a playful, affectionate little soul who hasn't let life's hardships stop him from believing that people can be kind. If you're looking for a best friend who will reward your patience with unwavering loyalty, soft kisses, joyful little grunts, and enough sweetness to rival a whole box of cookies, Famous Amos is ready to make your life a whole lot sweeter.
