Description

* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 11th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Blooper!   Some dogs are graceful. Some dogs are serious. And then there’s Blooper— the one-of-a-kind, silly, adorable Schnauzer mix who earned his name because he is basically a walking comedy show.   This 10-12 month old, 14-pound pup has a fabulous non-shedding coat, an even more fabulous personality, and a talent for making everyone around him smile. With one perfectly charming floppy ear, one upright ear, the cutest little outturned feet when he runs, and a tail that wiggles like it has a mind of its own, Blooper is impossible not to love.   A Day in the Life of a Blooper   Blooper starts his mornings with the family around 7 or 8 AM, ready to take on the day. After a quick potty break, he enjoys breakfast from a slow feeder or wobble Kong in his crate— because this smart guy likes to make mealtime a fun challenge.   Then it’s time for adventure! One of his favorite things is going for walks, and his foster family’s 9-year-old son, Ira, often takes him out for a stroll. Blooper enjoys his walks, his sniffing expeditions, and checking out everything happening in the neighborhood.   The rest of his day is the perfect mix of fun and relaxation: playing, exploring the backyard, chewing on a bully stick, napping, and keeping tabs on the household. He gets additional walks throughout the day and ends his evening sleeping in Ira’s room, happily rotating between his own bed and Ira’s bed.   A Little Goofball with a Big Heart   From the moment Blooper arrived at his foster home, he made his presence known. His introduction? Immediately walking over for attention and putting his head straight into someone's lap like, "Hi, I'm here, please begin the belly rubs."   Blooper is affectionate, funny, and full of personality. He isn't a constant shadow, but he does like to know what's happening and where his people are. His favorite person is definitely Ira, and he loves following him around the house. If Ira leaves the room, Blooper is quick to notice and may offer a little protest because, obviously, important adventures are being missed.   While he isn't the biggest snuggler, Blooper loves affection and will happily accept head scratches, belly rubs, and plenty of attention. He especially loves when his people are nearby—even if he's relaxing independently.   The Funniest Little Weirdo   Blooper’s silly personality is truly what makes him special. One of his favorite activities is discovering toys (even toys he's already seen a hundred times), rubbing his whole body across them like he's claiming them as his own, and then proudly moving on to the next adventure.   He also has a very unique approach to getting scratches. When you rub his lower back, his back half may suddenly point straight up in the air while his front half tries to position itself for belly rubs. It’s as if his front and back halves are having a communication issue— but somehow it works perfectly for Blooper.   And if he's lying near you, don't be surprised if he quietly places his paw or head on your foot. He may not be a traditional velcro dog, but he always finds a way to stay connected.   Smart, Energetic, and Ready to Learn   Blooper is a smart little guy who loves treats and is eager to please. He already knows sit and is working hard on down, shake, crate, drop it, and leave it. He even happily works for kibble, which makes training easy.   He loves games like fetch and tug-of-war and enjoys having a job to do. Keeping his mind and body busy helps bring out the very best in him. When he's well-exercised and mentally stimulated, he's the perfect mix of playful and relaxed.   Dog and Kid Friendly   Blooper has done wonderfully with kids of all ages and enjoys being part of the family action. Because he is energetic and enthusiastic, younger children or kids who are nervous around dogs may need a little time to get used to his excitement.   He has enjoyed meeting other dogs and would likely love having a canine sibling or regular doggy playmates. When he sees other dogs on walks, he likes to announce their presence with enthusiastic barking— but his wagging tail gives away the truth: he’s not trying to start trouble, he just really wants to say hello!   Still Working on His Puppy Manners   Blooper is house-trained and crate-trained. He may protest briefly when first put in his crate, but he settles down and relaxes once he realizes it’s time to rest.   Like many young dogs, he still has some puppy habits he’s working on. He loves to chew and occasionally finds random household items interesting, so keeping tempting things out of reach is helpful. He enjoys appropriate chew toys, Nylabones, rubber toys, and bully sticks.   He can also get mouthy when excited, especially during harness and leash time or while being petted, but this comes from excitement— not fear or aggression— and he responds well to redirection.   His biggest "Blooper" is definitely his enthusiasm for barking. He likes to let everyone know when he hears a noise, sees a dog, hears a doorbell, or suspects something interesting is happening outside. His future family should be ready to continue helping him learn that not every neighborhood event requires a full announcement.   His Perfect Home   Blooper would thrive with an active family who enjoys having a fun, silly companion around. He would love people who will play fetch, engage in training, take him on walks, and give him plenty of opportunities to use his puppy brain.   A home with a yard would be wonderful, but more important is a family ready to provide the physical and mental stimulation this clever boy needs. In return, you'll get endless entertainment, lots of laughs, and a dog who is always thrilled to see you.   Why You'll Love Blooper   Blooper is the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying. He's quirky, playful, smart, affectionate, and completely unique.   He runs like a little cartoon character, greets you with his signature silly charm, and has a way of turning ordinary moments into something hilarious. Whether he's proudly carrying a toy, chasing around the yard, offering a paw on your foot, or getting his whole body involved in a belly rub, life with Blooper is never boring.   If you're looking for a fun-loving, funny, fluffy companion who will keep you laughing every single day, Blooper is ready to be your new best friend.
