Mavis is a sweet senior girl estimated to be between 8 and 12 years old. After spending much of her life as a stray, she's more than ready to trade the hardships of the outdoors for the comfort of a loving forever home. Mavis came to us through what we like to call the cat distribution system after kind people found her but weren't able to provide the care she needed. She arrived malnourished, lethargic, and suffering from a painful mouth abscess. With antibiotics, pain medication, good food, and plenty of TLC, she's made an incredible recovery. She now eats and drinks well on her own, uses the litter box reliably, and enjoys the simple comforts of indoor life. She has tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). While this means she should be the only cat in the home (or live with other FeLV-positive cats), many FeLV-positive cats enjoy happy, fulfilling lives with good nutrition, regular veterinary care, and lots of love. Mavis is an affectionate girl who absolutely adores attention. She has the sweetest motorboat purr and loves soaking up pets and companionship. Like many cats who have survived a difficult life, she can be a little spicy or easily startled at times, so she'll do best in a quiet, patient home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace.
