Description

This 3-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix is a sensitive and unique girl looking for a dedicated, experienced home that understands her needs. She already knows basic cues like “sit” and “shake a paw,” and she takes treats gently, making her a lovely partner for continued positive reinforcement training. Due to her personality, a home with strong breed knowledge and prior dog experience is required. She thrives best in a calm, quiet, adult-only environment, as she can be insecure and reserved, and may show “stranger danger,” especially considering her visual impairment of one eye.Once she warms up and feels comfortable in new environments, she is a super sweet playful girl. She loves to play with her toys as well as her people. She can be very relaxed and wiggly once she gets to know you and can be quite a silly playful girl! Because of a potential prey drive, she is not suited to a home with small animals. Any dog introductions should be done gradually and in a controlled setting to support successful relationships. Her new guardian should be committed to daily leash walks, enrichment, and structured routines, including implementing a feeding program with interactive toys, hand feeding for bonding, and trade-ups to build trust. A securely fenced backyard is essential for her safety, and she is not a candidate for off-leash parks as she will need time to build a strong bond, reliable recall, and confidence through monitored one-on-one interactions. Ongoing support through a basic manners class and/or private behaviour training will be required to help her continue to grow and succeed in her new home. She had an abnormal eye, when she came into us, most likely something she was born with . We opted to remove it, so it wont cause her problems in the future. She does need a home that understands, she has a little bit of visual trouble once in a while and can run into things once in awhile. Her other eye is functioning great, she just has trouble occasionally on the side, where the eye was removed.
