Description
* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 11th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event. All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee: $750 At 1 1/2 years old and 15 pounds, Neptune is the perfect-sized Yorkie-Poodle mix who's already checked off the hard stuff so you don't have to. He's housetrained, wonderful with other dogs, fantastic with kids, and has the kind of happy-go-lucky personality that makes you wonder if he secretly drank three cups of coffee before breakfast. If you're looking for a dog who's equal parts best friend, comedian, adventure buddy, and professional cuddle consultant, Neptune is ready to orbit right into your life. The Center of His Own Solar System Neptune has somehow come to the conclusion that every day is the greatest day ever. Wake up? Amazing. Going for a walk? Incredible. Playing fetch? Sign him up. Meeting new people? Clearly they're here just to see him. He's the kind of dog who bounces through life with a smile on his face and a toy in his mouth. His tail rarely stops wagging, his curiosity never takes a day off, and if there's something fun happening anywhere in the house, Neptune has already invited himself. He doesn't believe in missing out. Mission Control, We Have Lift-Off! Neptune is convinced life is one giant adventure. He'll happily follow you from room to room—not because he's needy—but because he's pretty sure whatever you're doing is about to become more exciting if he joins in. Cooking dinner? He'll supervise. Folding laundry? He'll provide quality control. Watching TV? He'll assume you were saving that couch space just for him. One of his funniest habits is wrapping himself around your leg while holding one end of a toy, politely insisting that tug-of-war should begin immediately. Resistance is generally futile. Small Dog. Big Personality. Entire Galaxy of Charm. Neptune has never met a stranger. Visitors don't get greeted with suspicion—they get welcomed like long-lost friends who have finally arrived for his party. He'll happily introduce himself, accept compliments on how adorable he is (he hears them a lot), and then see if anyone is interested in throwing a toy. His foster family says he's one of those dogs who simply makes the house happier. He's always nearby, always ready for fun, and somehow manages to make ordinary days feel a little more exciting. Ready for Every Adventure Neptune loves his walks and has excellent leash manners, although squirrels occasionally convince him they're clearly plotting something and deserve further investigation. Fetch? Absolutely. Tug-of-war? His specialty. Zoomies around the backyard? Olympic-level performance. When playtime is over, though, he's perfectly happy to curl up nearby and recharge for tomorrow's adventures. Friends? He'll Take All of Them. Neptune absolutely loves other dogs. A playful canine buddy would be like winning the lottery in his world, but he doesn't require one. As long as his family enjoys interacting with him, he'll happily fill the role of entertainment director all by himself. He's also wonderful with children and has done beautifully with kids ages 9, 12, and 13. Whether it's tossing a ball, playing tug, or simply hanging out together, Neptune is always ready to join the fun. Already Knows the House Rules One of the best parts about Neptune? He's already figured out how to be an excellent roommate. He's completely housetrained and reliably waits to go outside. If he's home alone for a longer period, he even knows how to use potty pads. He enjoys chewing on his own toys instead of your furniture, settles nicely at bedtime, and has the kind of easygoing nature that makes him a joy to live with. A Quick Look Back...Then Straight Ahead Neptune's story actually began with us. He was born here at DPS Rescue, adopted as a puppy, and we truly believed we'd never see him again. Then one day, thanks to his microchip, a shelter called to let us know one of our alumni had found his way back to us. We don't know exactly what happened, but honestly, that's not the important part anymore. The important part is that Neptune is back, he's thriving, and this time we're looking for the family that will love him for the rest of his life. Why You'll Love Neptune Some dogs quietly become part of your family. Neptune becomes part of everything. He's your walking buddy. Your fetch partner. Your couch companion. Your household comedian. Your tiny shadow. Your biggest fan. He has enough personality for a dog three times his size, enough love for an entire neighborhood, and enough joy to brighten even the most ordinary Tuesday. If you're looking for a dog who's already past the puppy chaos, already housetrained, already wonderful with kids and other dogs, and already knows that life is meant to be enjoyed, Neptune is ready to make your world a whole lot brighter. After all...every solar system deserves a Neptune.
