Description

Meet Cardinal! Cardinal is a three-month-old male Chihuahua mix, born April 5, 2026. His mama Birdie, his three siblings, and two other dogs (likely aunties) were taken in by Chi Town Rescue when he was just a week old. The story goes that a good samaritan was driving and saw a homeless man's cart get knocked over. He stopped to help and realized that there were seven dogs in the cart. The man surrendered the pups to the good samaritan, tearfully saying he could not take care of them anymore. From there, Chi Town Rescue took in this little family. Cardinal is the biggest pup in the litter, and almost as big as mama at just over eight-pounds. Cardinal is a big boy, but please don't think that means he's a tough guy- Cardinal is actually THE most shy and gentle in the litter! He's a sensitive baby and needs help learning how to be brave. Cardinal wants to be involved in all the goings-on, pets/play-time/socializing, he's just not so sure how to get started. We have no doubt that with time and patience, Cardinal will blossom in a home setting and learn all about what it means to be a dog. Please make sure you are ready for the commitment of adopting a young dog. Puppies become adult dogs and are meant to be loved for their whole life, not just until they grow up. Puppies will need lots of patience to help them learn their best doggy manners, leash-training, and house-training.  Adoption fees are $500 per puppy and include vaccinations, microchip, and eventual alter surgery at the PAWS clinic on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix. Per our vet, we do not alter puppies until around five months, which helps with hormone development and bone growth. Adopters will sign a contract that you will bring your puppy to the PAWS clinic for spay/neuter surgery, sometime in September 2026.
