06/11/26 08:08Intake date: 6/3Due out: 6/7Meowcifer is a ~9 year old male castrated domestic shorthair with history of jaw fracture, 2 broken canine teeth, lameness on R hind leg, and wobbly gait in hind legs (all likely from traumatic injury) at time of intake. No obvious fractures at hind limbs or spine on x-ray. Lameness at wobbly gait suspected to be neurologic trauma (nerve injury or spinal cord compression or similar). Also has some dental disease. Jaw fracture was stablized with cerclage wire.On recheck examination 6/11 - jaw wire remains in place. Happily eating, well hydrated. Wobbly in back still but using litter box well (no fecal or urinary incontinence) and lameness on right hind leg is much improved though slightly persistent.Available for adoption with waiver or urgent rescue.Will need jaw wire removed at week 8 under sedation, and ongoing crate/cage rest is recommended through week 4 after intake to help him heal from the suspected neurologic trauma. May have ongoing weakness in back legs chronically. Will need dental procedure to treat periodontal disease and address 2 broken canine teeth.
