Description
Mochi joined us at MCAS as a part of a shelter swap program, giving struggling dogs the opportunity to try a different location; Mochi was said to be nervous, cautious, and unsure with people, but seemed to love and thrive in playgroups, something the other shelter doesn't have the current resources to do every day. Mochi's VERY toy-driven and would love someone who can provide lots of toys and has a great sense of humor for his antics. He really just wants to be included and spend time with his people. Mochi is a bit of a shy guy at first. Shelter life is hard on sensitive dogs, and Mochi takes some time to warm up to new faces. He communicates clearly when he needs space â through body language like stiffening or lip licking â and does best with people who go slow, stay calm, and let him come around in his own time. Once he trusts you, that patience really pays off. He's been moved into an office, and seems to be accepting and adjusting to strangers and new people more comfortably than he was when he was in a kennel. The best part of Mochi? Once he feels safe, his true personality shines. In playgroup, he starts out a little reserved but quickly relaxes, and once comfortable he loves greeting other dogs, playing gently (or zooming full speed), and â his absolute favorite â splashing around in the pool.Mochi is ready for a patient, understanding family who can give him the calm, consistent environment he needs to keep growing into his best self. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time and someone in his corner, Mochi could be exactly the good boy you've been looking for.*Mochi does have a bite history involving a young child. The incident occurred during a moment of high energy and stress for everyone involved, and it's likely that the commotion and overstimulation in the moment played a significant role; the resulting injury was a few minor punctures when the child was lifted by their parent. Because of this, Mochi is looking for a home without young children â one with the experience and understanding to help him continue building confidence and trust.
