Description
Meet Xena! Xena is a sweet 4‑year‑old Lab mix who came to us after her family could no longer care for her. From the moment she arrived, she made fast friends with our staff—she’s the kind of dog who lights up a room just by walking into it.She’s currently spending time in our A‑Dorm with one of our volunteers and has been doing wonderfully. Xena has lived with both dogs and cats before, though she didn’t always get along with them. During her dog test here, she showed a bit of reactivity toward another dog, so we’re taking things slow and paying close attention to her comfort level.Because of this, we believe Xena would thrive best as the only pet in the home or with a calm, well‑rounded dog who won’t mind giving her the time and space she needs to understand that new friends are safe. She wants to be social—she just needs a patient companion to help her feel confident.Xena is affectionate, people‑oriented, and eager to bond. She’s ready for a family who can give her stability, kindness, and the chance to blossom into her best self.Xena's adoption fee is $175, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet!
