Description

Meet Slinky - Long Body, Careful Heart, Champion Cuddler Slinky may not be the first dog to run up and introduce herself. But if you give her a little time… she just might climb right into your lap and never leave. This long, adorable little chiweenie mix came into the shelter as a stray after clearly having a rough start. Her collar had become wrapped underneath her front leg. Life had taught Slinky to be cautious. New people? Unsure. New places? A little overwhelming. Then someone did something simple. Instead of asking Slinky to trust right away, they climbed into her kennel with a blanket and sat quietly beside her. And after a while… Slinky made the choice. She walked over, curled up next to her rescuer, and decided this person was safe. Since then, they've been best friends and now Slinky is thriving in foster care with the very person who gave her the chance to trust again. Once you're in Slinky's circle, she's all in. This girl is affectionate, cuddly, and absolutely loves to jump into laps for snuggle time. She walks beautifully on leash, adores squeaky toys (seriously… they're kind of her thing), and believes people food should probably be shared whenever possible. She's a little shy when meeting new dogs but warms up quickly and does well once she's gets comfortable. Her foster has noticed some mild resource guarding around favorite treasures and is helping her work through it but overall, Slinky just really loves her toys and her people. Slinky isn't looking for someone to impress. She's looking for someone patient. Someone who understands that trust is earned and that when a shy dog chooses you, it's one of the best feelings in the world. She's up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and ready to find the forever family she never knew she deserved. Bring a blanket. Sit with her for a minute. You may leave with your new best friend. Slinky is up-to-date on rabies and DHPP and tested negative for heartworms.  She has been spayed and has a microchip. Her adoption fee is $500.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
