Description

Iris came to us as a stray after being found at a local service station when her finder (who was traveling through from out of state) stopped amidst her travels, and lucky for her, that she did! Not chipped and no ID tag meant that if Iris had a family, there was no way to let them know where she was. She appeared on our website during her stray hold, as all strays do, in hopes they would see her and claim her. She has been a little nervous since her arrival to us, so our staff has been diligently working with her making sure to show her love, patience and grace, daily to help her gain her confidence! And this adorable girl is VERY receptive that whole notion! She visits offices often and continues to gain confidence daily! Iris is such the gentle treat taker, too! We learned that she does prefer dog treats over the human food that some (we won’t mention names) staff members try to give her, and is always just the sweetest when taking them! She even met a canine friend who was an office mate for the day and the nose-to-nose meeting through the ‘baby/dog’ gate proved tail wags and sniff approvals from both her and her new friend! We have no information how she does with cats and have no way to test for this. We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit. She has grown from running to the back of her kennel when she first arrived when a human paid a visit, to sitting in the front calmly at first, then jumping into tail wags when she sees her human friends. She walks great on a leash, although if you hype her up too much… you may have to then give her a moment while she gets her zoomies out, because the excitement sometimes is just too much to contain them. This sweet girl will benefit most from a family who understands the need to go slow with movements at first and when meeting new canine and human friends, but given the patience and grace that comes with that, she will prove to be the best companion EVER! If you can provide the perfect home for this sweet girl, please come and meet her in person.Adoption Hours:• Mon–Fri: 12–5pm• Sat: 11am–2pm Please bring a collar and leash OR purchase a combo from us for only $15 to safely take your new family member home safely. All adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives.
