Adoption Fee: $400.00 Benji is a 5-year-old Shih Tzu weighing approximately 16 pounds who is looking for a second chance at a loving home. Through no fault of his own, he is now searching for a family that can provide a calm and peaceful environment where he can thrive. He is fully vetted, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. Benji enjoys being near his people and prefers companionship, though he is not overly snuggly and does best with a bit of personal space. His foster home shares that he has a sweet, gentle nature and will make a wonderful addition to the right household. Benji would do best in a quiet home where he can be the only dog. He finds comfort in his crate and uses it as a safe space, often going in and out on his own. His crate will need to go with him to his new home to help him feel secure during the transition.  Benji does best with older children who understand dog body language.  A mature household helps him feel safe and relaxed.  If you are looking for a calm, loyal companion, Benji may be a great fit.   New foster dogs need time to feel safe. They may be skittish or fearful, so always stay with them outside—even in fenced yards. Ensure collars and leashes fit securely to prevent escapes. Your gentle presence and protection help them feel loved and secure. The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record.
