Description

Apollo is a senior shepherd/chow chow mix(best guess) who we think looks like a large basenji! Apollo is living with another dog (Kobe) and with someone who is no longer physically able to care for him. When our surrender team volunteers met Apollo, he was friendly with them and their dog… he greeted them with lots of tail wags. Friendly with everyone and greets even strangers with happy enthusiasm Great in the car; sits quietly and looks out the window Able to calmly and respectfully meet other dogs May pull on leash when excited, but is able to quickly settle, even in public spaces with people and other dogs Enjoys treats, bones, and chews   Apollo is a quiet friendly guy- good with all people he meets and dogs. He doesn't seem to be a fan of cats. He has never lived with children but he did great spending the day with one of our volunteers 4 year old so we think may be fine with dog savvy or older kids. He is calm and loving and appears to be much younger than he is. This handsome senior could be a great companion and easy to care for guy.  He is here in NJ ready to meet you. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.  he tested negative for heartworm and his senior bloodwork showed that he is overall a healthy guy.   His adoption fee is $300. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
