Description

Scout is a lap dog trapped in the body of a 60-lb Border Collie / Aussie mix. We estimate him to be around 4 years old, though he groans like an old man rather than bark. He adores people, especially those he deems his. Despite his breed, he is medium energy, requiring a walk a day and some tug of war or wrestling to keep him happy. He will follow you anywhere as he is learning how to be a dog.Scout loves deeply as is evident when he offers you his paw, his belly, or rubs his head on you to get more snuggles, but he does come with a few scars - physical and emotional. However, he just needs some loving guidance to adapt quickly. He is learning to love other dogs, he prefers females his size or smaller, but typically does well with slower introductions. He is patient and loving to kids of all ages, and recognizes them for the wonderful opportunity they are for play and more snuggles. He is lovingly protective of those he considers part of his pack, and will greet you with his happy tippy-tappy paws when he sees you. He has not had any experience with cats. Scout is a quick learner and loves liver treats to motivate him. He has mastered sit and lay down, and is working on stay and leave it. He is also crate and potty trained.Scout would do best in a family with kids and people willing to help him on his journey to healing and just being a dog. He would love a yard to run in, but it's not necessary as long as he can walk and have time to play. If you are willing to give Scout love, pets, and play, you willing have a caring and attentive companion for life.If Scout sounds like the guy for you, please complete an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application.
