Description

LEMON SHERBET was brought to us by his caregiver who discovered a yucky-looking hole in his side  and was concerned it might be life-threatening. We have the good fortune to have volunteers with medical training of various types, and after investigating closely, have determined the injury is something that we could clean, observe, and then treat until this coming week when we can see if he needs to see a vet or will be fine with our first aid. One of our volunteers must’ve been in hot  mode yesterday when she named him Lemon Sherbet.  (Yesterday was hot and anything lemony sounds refreshing!) LS did not object to having his wound flushed with saline, dabbed dry, and then he was given a shot of antibiotic. We are keeping a close eye on him, but the wound appears to be closing up already. It’s possible it had been a warble worm who vacated his hiding place, but there was no evidence of a worm remaining. Whew! Thank goodness for that! We will continue watching for infection, but feel good healing is happening already. PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
