Description

***Debbie is scheduled to attend our upcoming adoption event at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over then July 11-12 weekend. An application for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Debbie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** Debbie had been found as a stray just up the road from SoCo Rescue. Scott Bennett first noticed her as while he was driving and he could easily see that she was very pregnant. Before he could turn his truck around to go check on her, Debbie disappeared into the woods. It was approximately three weeks later before Scott saw her again, but by that time she'd obviously already had her litter. It took a little over an hour of Scott following Debbie as she led him this way and that way through the woods, but eventually Debbie led Scott to a spot deep in the woods and right to her puppies. With the help of a SoCo staff member, Scott was able to retrieve all ten of her puppies, who were about 2 weeks old at the time. Unfortunately, one of the puppies didn't survive the night, but the remaining nine went on to find their homes in the New Jersey area. Within minutes of arriving at SoCo Rescue, Debbie began to display just how friendly and thankful she was and her demeanor has been unchanged since. She's also a very calm girl, loving to just lounge around and relax. She's done exceptionally well with her crate and house training, but may need a refresher course once in her new home. Debbie also walks very well on a leash but sometimes shows a bit of hesitancy when exploring new places, most likely still remembering that she was once taken to a strange place and left all alone. But we have no doubt that Debbie will eventually put all of her former nightmare of a life behind her and become 100% trusting in her new home. Debbie also gets along very well with other dogs, but has a funny quirk of preferring to be alone when she goes to potty. Debbie will make a great companion for anyone looking to add lots of love into their life. Debbie has since been spay and received an update on all of her annual vaccinations, de-wormings and other such care. She/'s also received treatment for her heartworms and has been kept up to date on both her flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
