Description

Meet Princess!Location: Leonard, TXDOB: 5/14/24Princess is a smart, affectionate, energetic Great Dane with a heart full of love. She's a true "Velcro Dane" who wants to be close to her people at all times and believes there's no better place to nap than the back of the couch—or snuggled up with her family under a blanket. She has excellent house manners and is housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and a wonderful passenger in the car. She happily loads into the car, settles nicely in her crate, and will even hop into the bathtub when a treat is involved. Princess has an average energy level, and a fenced backyard gives her plenty of room for her favorite activity—zoomies! Her biggest loves? Tennis balls and treats. Princess will do just about anything for either one. She loves chasing, catching, and chewing tennis balls, and she'd happily accept a lifetime supply. On hot summer days, she also enjoys relaxing in a shallow doggie pool.Princess is affectionate and enjoys scratches, pets, and spending quality time with her people. Like many young Danes, she can get overly excited and occasionally forget her manners by jumping up to say hello, but she's responsive to gentle reminders.Princess is currently building confidence through weekly training classes. She can be nervous in new environments, around loud noises, and when meeting new people—especially men. However, with slow introductions, patience, and consistency, she forms strong bonds. She now adores her foster dad after taking a few days to warm up, and she's making steady progress with new visitors. She is currently living peacefully with five other Great Danes, an older Blue Heeler, and three cats. She can be enthusiastic during playtime and is still learning appropriate social boundaries with dogs her age, but any disagreements have been minor and easily redirected. She generally ignores the household cats, though she occasionally shows curiosity when excited and redirects easily.Princess has also briefly met young children and did well, though she was understandably a little cautious. Because of her size and excitement level, she'd likely do best with older children who can comfortably interact with a giant breed.Princess is not trustworthy when left unattended in the house—she firmly believes kitchen counters are snack bars! She happily relaxes in her crate when her family is away. She prefers to be able to see her people while kenneled and may bark or howl briefly before settling down.Princess is heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment. She also has a chronic, intermittent dry cough that is managed with medication as needed.Princess would thrive with a patient family committed to continuing her confidence-building journey. She would do well as an only dog or with compatible canine companions. Most of all, she's looking for a family willing to share their couch, bed, blankets, plenty of tennis balls, lots of treats, and endless love.If you're looking for a loyal, goofy, affectionate companion who will reward your patience with unwavering devotion, Princess may be the perfect addition to your family===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
