Sometimes, the best dogs end up needing a new home  through absolutely no fault of their own. That’s exactly the case for Diesel. From the time he was a tiny, 3-week-old bottle-fed puppy, Diesel was the center of his family’s universe. For 4 years, he knew nothing but love, sofa snuggles, and family adventures. Tragically, a house fire destroyed everything his family owned. Forced to scramble into housing that forbids dogs, his heartbroken family had to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure he could find a safe, permanent future. Diesel is not just a gorgeous Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd mix, he’s a beautifully-trained house dog, ready to step directly into your heart. At 60 pounds, Diesel is the perfect blend of athlete and lounging companion. If you want to go for a run, load up the car for a road trip, or head to the creek, he’ll be at the door waiting for you. He absolutely lives for water play and swimming. But when the outdoor adventures are done? Diesel has a built-in couch potato  switch. He turns into a world-class snuggler who just wants to be near his people. Because he was bottle-fed from such a young age, Diesel has a unique comfort habit: he loves to gently suckle on little throw blankets. Pair that with his devotion to his plush squeaky toys (he ignores ropes and balls completely), and you have an incredibly endearing boy who will keep you smiling every single day. Diesel is incredibly smart and eager to please - he’ll try to do anything you ask of him. He’s completely crate trained and walks beautifully on a leash. He knows how to sit on command and has excellent focus. True to his breed, he’ll alert you  with a loyal bark when someone pulls into the driveway or knocks on the door. He also likes to "sing" to high-pitched noises, which is as silly as it is sweet. He’s warm and friendly with all adults and has been wonderful with a 10-year-old nephew of the family. No cats or other dogs, please - Diesel wants all your love for himself. Diesel has a lifetime of foundation training, deep loyalty, and immense love to give. He went through the fire, and now he’s just waiting for the right person to help him start his next chapter.   Diesel is neutered, is heartworm negative, and fully up-to-date on all vaccines and preventatives.
