Description
Patches (A142603) is a 5-year-old DMH who weighed 11.25 pounds on intake! Behavior Update: Miss Patches has not been adjusting to shelter life very well. Shelters are inherently stressful for animals who experience a disrupt in their routine and suddenly find themselves around strange people and in close proximity with other strange animals. Patches often hisses from inside her hide and will not come out during the day when there are people around. Fortunately, her weakness is food. With a slow and considerate approach, care staff were able to coax her out with a lickable treat, and she has actually acquiesced to a few head scritches. When her tolerance is met, she gives a hiss and retreats to her hide. Patches will do best in a home that is willing to look past the walls she has put up and give her the time and space she needs to feel safe in coming out of her shell.06/24/26 This beautiful kitty is Patches! Patches was surrendered to the shelter and looking for her new place to call home. She was previously allowed to venture outside, but a friendly reminder that the outdoors can be very dangerous for our feline friends. We encourage her next owner to consider getting her a catio! When indoors, Patches was said to enjoy laying by the window and enjoying the sunshine! Patches was stated to be litterbox trained. She was also said to do well with people of all ages including babies and children. She has also historically done well with other animals in the home, both dogs and cats. It is important that appropriate introductions are always being made with new people and other pets to help set her up for success! She should also have a place in the home where she feels is her own and can feel safe and secure as she settles in. Patches arrived at the shelter very overweight and we encourage her next owner to work with their vet on the best way to help her reach her ideal weight. If you are interested in meeting Patches, please let us know!
