Description
Meet Orca! Orca is part of a litter of Great Pyrenees mix puppies that came into the Shelterâs care as a stray. We donât know much about Orcaâs life outside the fact that they and their siblings were found in a box on the side of the road in Watsonville. A good Samaritan saw them and brought them to safety at the Shelter. They are, understandably, a little nervous after that experience but are enjoying the care and attention of staff and volunteers. We anticipate these puppies will be large sized dogs, although we donât know their exact breed mix (Great Pyrenees is simply a guess). Adopters with other animals should plan to do a slow, thoughtful introduction. Any resident pups may want to meet Orca at the Shelter prior to adoption for a brief meet ân greet. Adopters planning to take home a puppy should be prepared for all things puppy â such as potty training and age appropriate socialization.Orca is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
