General info
Description
Voltaire is a Lhasa Apso mix pup that came into the Shelter as a stray with his brother Socrates (a miniature poodle mix). We donât know much about this duoâs life before the Shelter. They could be adopted as a pair but do not appear totally bonded, so theyâd be just as happy adopted out separately. When Voltaire and his friend came into the Shelter, they were severely matted. Both dogs have gotten a full groom thanks to a local pet salon and look SO handsome! They were well behaved for their grooming. Adopters should plan on regular grooming sessions (ideally every 8 weeks) as well as regular brushing at home to keep their coats in good shape. Voltaire has met dogs his size and larger and has been polite. A home with other dogs may be a fit. We do not have any information about these dogs with children or cats. Voltaire is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
