Like his namesake, this little guy can be a bit tough on the outside when meeting new people or facing unfamiliar situations, but once you earn his trust, youll discover a loyal companion who absolutely melts into your arms and loves nothing more than being held by his favorite humans. Granite is a smart little guy who is very food motivated, making training and bonding a fun experience. He has excellent potty habits when kept on a consistent schedule, does well in his crate, walks beautifully on a leash, and is a fantastic travel companion when safely crated in the car. Granite enjoys the company of other small dogs and likes to play, though he may let everyone know hes the boss when first introduced. While larger dogs can make him nervous, he has successfully lived with big dogs when introductions are slow, thoughtful, and respectful of his boundaries. Granite will need a home without cats. This special boy prefers a quieter lifestyle. Young children can be overwhelming for him, so he is looking for a home without kids or with older, calm children who understand how to respect a dogs space. He also tends to feel more comfortable around women and will need patient, understanding people who are willing to let him build trust at his own pace. Granite may not be the kind of dog who falls in love with everyone he meets, but for the person lucky enough to become part of his circle, his love is something truly special. If youre looking for a devoted little shadow who will happily cuddle close after a day of adventures, Granite might just be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
