Description
Sonny is a 6-year-old, gentle giant looking for his forever home! This big Creamsicle guy has a sweet, chill personality. Sonny enjoys the simple things in life: lounging in a cozy spot, getting lots of head pets, and spending time near his people. When he's in the mood for attention, he'll let you know with his adorable vocalizations. Give him some pets on the head, and you'll be rewarded with a purr and a tail shake because he just can't contain his excitementAlthough Sonny is affectionate, he's also a little shy and likes to take things at his own pace. He's not quite ready to curl up in your lap or share your bed, but he enjoys being nearby and building trust with his humans. He is almost always happy for you to come to him and pet him wherever he is, but won't always want to come out of his cozy spot to follow you around. He does have a playful side and will happily engage in a wand toy session when the mood strikes.Sonny gets along well with the other male cat in his foster home and has excellent litter box manners. (Because of his size, an XL litter box is best.) He's an incredibly sweet, easygoing companion who is looking for a patient adopter willing to help him continue his weight-loss journey while showering him with the love he deserves. Sonny is currently working on losing weight, so will need to be in a home committed to helping him stay healthy through portion-controlled, weight-loss food and gentle daily play. Encouraging him to chase the wand toy is a great way to help him get more movement! Because Sonny was carrying so much extra weight when he came into foster care, he wasn't able to reach certain areas to groom himself, which led to some fur matting. Those areas have been shaved but the fur will grow back :)Sonny currently lives in a quiet apartment with a young adult male cat and two adults who are generally out from 9-5. This setup suits his activity level and social preferences just fine. This handsome guy would benefit from a quiet household where he can settle in at his own pace. Any kids would preferably be older, so as not to overwhelm him. He would likely do well with most respectful, chill cats around his age and possibly chill dogs. He would also do okay as a solo cat; he does not need to be around people all day and is content to lounge most of the time. His perfect adopter will understand that while he loves attention and pets, he may not be the type of cat who immediately jumps into laps or sleeps in bed with his people. Given time, patience, and lots of love, Sonny is likely to become an even more confident and affectionate member of the family. There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat?
