Jeannie spent her first 4 years of life living on a stoop in Brooklyn, she slowly came around to people through her regular feeders and really loved being pet. When a big blizzard was about to blow through we made the call to retire Jeannie from her outdoor life and give her a chance at a warm cozy bed inside instead.  If you're the kind of person who finds joy in earning an animal's trust, celebrating tiny victories, and watching a shy cat slowly blossom into your shadow, Jeannie is your girl. When Jeannie first arrived in foster care, she was completely shut down. Over the past four months, she's made incredible progress. Every week she becomes a little braver, a little more confident, and a little more affectionate. Today, Jeannie is slowly becoming a Velcro cat, following her foster from room to room, curling up beside her, asking for pets, and testing out life as a lap cat. Jeannie is incredibly sweet, and even when she's scared, she's never aggressive. Once she learns that she's safe, her affectionate personality shines through. Jeannie is also very smart and learns routines quickly, especially when treats are involved. Churu is her favorite, making positive reinforcement a great way to help her build confidence. She also has a playful side and loves interactive toys.  That said, Jeannie is looking for a very patient home. She is nervous around sudden movement, loud noises, and new environments. Her adopter should expect a slow adjustment period and let her move at her own pace. Jeannie would do best in a quiet home without young children. She may be able to live with other cats, but introductions will need to be slow and handled with patience. If you're patient, gentle, and willing to let Jeannie set the pace, Jeannie will shine.
