Description

Louis is a 13 year old, 10 lb miniature poodle mix who is the definition of a gentle, low maintenance senior sweetheart! Quick Facts: Name: Louis Breed: Poodle (miniature) Age: 13 years old Weight: 10 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, but likely fine Good with Kids: Yes – best with kids who can respect his small size and not pick him up Energy Level: Couch potato Fence Required: No as long as he is leashed Dog’s Location: Archer Lodge, NC Special Needs: Louis was diagnosed with cardiomegaly with left atrial enlargement which has improved after being on medication. He also has a historic grade IV-V/VI heart murmur. Louis is on medication that he will need to take for life, but he doesn’t let that slow him down! Medications include: Vetmedin 1.25mg tablet and Enalapril 2.5mg tablet. About Louis’s Breed: Our best guess is that Louis is a miniature Poodle mixed breed. Miniature Poodles are bright, affectionate, and wonderfully people oriented little dogs, known for their intelligence, sensitivity, and elegant charm. They tend to bond closely with their families and love being included in daily routines—whether that’s curling up on the couch, following their person from room to room, or enjoying short bursts of play before settling in for a nap. Their combination of smarts and sweetness makes them both easy to train and deeply devoted companions. Their ideal home is one that offers consistent routines, gentle structure, and plenty of companionship. Mini Poodles thrive in calm, loving environments where they can feel secure and connected, and they do especially well with families who appreciate a sensitive, affectionate dog. They’re a great fit for households that enjoy light daily walks, mental enrichment, and lots of cozy downtime together. What to Love about Louis: All Louis really wants in life is a soft bed, a calm home, and a person who doesn’t mind a tiny sleeping buddy curled up beside them every night! He can hop onto the bed with the help of a bench, and if a home doesn’t have one, he’d simply need a little lift. Louis gets around beautifully, is a crate trained dream, and has never had a potty accident—he goes out four times a day and keeps a perfect routine. He’s not a big fan of being picked up unless it’s to be placed in bed, but he’ll happily jump onto the couch to snuggle while you watch TV! He’s hesitant with stairs but can manage them, and he’d thrive in a relaxed home—ideally with a retired person or someone who works from home—where he can be the center of attention. Louis enjoys short walks, leisurely backyard time, and “patrolling” the yard to make sure everything is in order. He’s great on a leash, doesn’t need much exercise, and is perfectly content being left in his crate when you’re away. Louis is wonderful with respectful kids, fine with other dogs (though he mostly ignores them), and would likely do well with a cat after a proper meet and greet. This sweet senior boy is polite, easygoing, affectionate, and simply wants a calm, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who asks for very little but gives so much love in return, Louis is ready to curl up beside you and settle in for the rest of his life! Louis’s Lively Highlights: • Senior sweetheart — gentle, calm, and happiest snoozing beside his person, does have a heart murmur and will need medication for life • Bed sleeping pro — loves sleeping in bed and can use a bench to hop up • Crate trained dream — perfectly content in his crate and great when left alone • Accident free — fully house trained with a consistent four times a day potty routine • Low maintenance companion — easygoing, polite, and happy with simple routines • Short walk enjoyer — likes leisurely strolls and relaxed backyard time • Yard patroller — loves checking the perimeter and surveying his kingdom • Great with respectful kids — enjoys children who don’t pick him up • Dog friendly observer — fine with other dogs but mostly ignores them • Perfect for a calm home — ideal for a retired person or someone who works from home Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
