Description
Steven, a 5 year old, 26 lb French Bulldog is the definition of an affectionate Frenchie with a whole lot of personality packed into a compact, wiggly body! Quick Facts: Name: Steven Breed: French Bulldog (“Frenchie”) Age: 5 years old Weight: 26 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (best with active dogs who match his energy and don’t mind a dominant playmate) Good with Cats: No (will try to chase them) Good with Kids: Not tested (likely ok with older, dog-savvy kids) Energy Level: High Fence Required: No Dog’s Location: Fuquay-Varina, NC Special Notes: Steven has had stenotic nares surgery to help with his breathing. This is typical in dogs of his breed. About Steven’s Breed: Our best guess is that Steven is a French Bulldog breed. French Bulldogs are affectionate, people oriented companions known for their expressive faces, sturdy little bodies, and charmingly goofy personalities. They thrive on closeness with their humans and are happiest when they can relax on the couch, follow you from room to room, or enjoy short bursts of play before settling in for a nap. Because they bond deeply, Frenchies do best in homes where they aren’t left alone for long stretches and can enjoy steady companionship and gentle structure. Their ideal home is one that offers consistent routines, moderate activity, and plenty of affection. They’re typically great with respectful, dog savvy kids and enjoy being part of a calm, loving household. Due to their brachycephalic (short nosed) build, they do best in environments that avoid extreme heat and prioritize their comfort and safety. A family that appreciates their sweet nature, quirky habits, and desire to be close will find a devoted, endlessly endearing companion in a French Bulldog. What to Love about Steven: This sweet boy wants nothing more than to be close to his person—he’ll curl up in your lap, lean his warm little body against your chest, and sneak in gentle chin kisses every chance he gets! Steven hasn’t lived with young children, but given his loving nature, he should do well with dog savvy kids who understand boundaries. He’s also still intact, so some of his behaviors—especially his tendency to “mark” and show dominant-style urination—will likely improve once he’s neutered (Steven will be neutered by CrisisDogsNC prior to adoption). Steven is full of energy and has a true zest for life. He’s crate trained, working hard on his potty training, and learning to walk politely on a leash, though the world is so exciting that he sometimes pulls. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and approaches life with enthusiasm, joy, and a big Frenchie grin! With other dogs, Steven has a more dominant play style and does best with pups who match his energy and have proper introductions. On walks, he gets overly excited when he sees other dogs—he just wants to meet them so badly—so he’ll thrive with a family ready to help him learn polite greetings. Cats spark that same excitement, so a feline free home is likely best. Quirks? Steven snores like a tiny freight train when he sleeps, and it’s honestly adorable. What he wants most is an active, dog experienced family who will continue his training, take him on adventures, and let him be the fun, affectionate, spirited sidekick he was born to be! If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Steven is ready to join you on every journey!
