* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 27th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Splendid: A Little Dog Living Her Best Life   At just 11 pounds, Splendid is proof that great things come in small packages. This adorable 10-12 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix is equal parts sunshine enthusiast, couch companion, neighborhood socialite, and professional belly-rub collector. Everywhere she goes, people stop to admire her— and Splendid is more than happy to soak up the attention.   A Day in the Life of Splendid   Splendid starts her mornings around 6:00 a.m., although she'd happily snooze a little longer if given the chance. Before breakfast, she makes her rounds through the house to check on all her favorite people, including the kids. If she finds an unoccupied bed along the way, she may sneak in a little bonus nap.   After breakfast, Splendid supervises the household morning routine before settling into her day. A walk is usually the highlight of her schedule, whether it's late morning or lunchtime. When she's not out exploring the neighborhood, you'll often find her stretched out on the patio soaking up the sunshine like she's on a permanent vacation.   She keeps herself entertained with toys, enjoys hanging out near her people, and spends her evenings lounging on the couch. Although she has her own cozy bed at night, Splendid has mastered the art of quietly sneaking into her foster's bed and positioning herself just far enough away to avoid detection. It's a skill she's perfected.   Sweet, Social, and Full of Personality   Splendid truly lives up to her name. She is affectionate, happy, and always ready to be part of whatever is happening around her. She loves attention but isn't a clingy Velcro dog. Instead, she enjoys keeping tabs on her family while still maintaining her independence.   She's a wonderful couch cuddler and has a hilarious habit of dramatically swooning onto laps when she wants belly rubs. One moment she's sitting beside you, and the next she's melted across your legs waiting for spa treatment. Her foster family jokes that she deserves her own miniature fainting couch.   Splendid is playful and enjoys her toys, and she's currently working on her fetching skills. She loves her daily walks and approaches life with curiosity and enthusiasm.   Friends of All Shapes and Sizes   Splendid gets along well with other dogs and has done great during off-leash interactions with fellow foster dogs. While she doesn't have as much experience with larger dogs, she's very curious about them and often seems eager to make new friends.   She also does well with cats and enjoys spending time with children. In fact, one of her favorite activities is seeking out the bedrooms of her foster family's teenagers and five-year-old because she knows extra attention is usually available there.   Outdoor Adventures   Walks are one of Splendid's favorite parts of the day. She's excited to get moving and can pull on leash, but her petite size makes her manageable while she continues working on her leash manners.   She's definitely interested in squirrels and birds, so she'll appreciate an adopter who can continue helping her practice polite walking skills.   House-Trained and Smart   Splendid is reliably house-trained and knows how to use a doggy door. She has also successfully used potty pads in the past.   She's a clever little dog who learns routines quickly and enjoys being part of the household.   Her Ideal Home   Splendid would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily life and enjoy regular companionship. She prefers not to spend long stretches of time alone and would be happiest with adopters who are home more often than not.   She could happily live as an only dog soaking up all the attention, or she could share her home with a friendly canine companion.   Because she's curious and adventurous, her future family should be mindful around open doors— Splendid is convinced she can take herself on neighborhood walks if given the opportunity.   Providing appropriate chew toys is also important, as chewing helps her manage boredom and stress.   Why You'll Love Splendid   Splendid is that rare combination of easygoing and entertaining.
