General info
Description
Firo has previously lived with young kids (under ten), teenagers, and adults successfully! He is also reported to have done well with with dogs and cats. Firo also well left alone at home during the work day, though of course he would appreciate some time to get used to a new home. He may even be bilingual and seems to know sit and shake in English and Spanish!Update 6/20: Firo was added to our Call to Action List after a minor bite occurred during a meeting with a potential adopter. The bite was not an aggressive incident, but due to overarousal/rough play, but the escalation in behavior tells us that Firo needs help and a different environment before these behaviors become more ingrained. He is goofy, energetic, and still very much an adolescent dog, but his frustration and overarousal have started to show and he has been grabbing at clothing and ankles in the play yard. While this behavior may have started as play, he needs help learning appropriate ways to interact with people. Firo is a 10-month-old young dog who came to VCAS when his owner was no longer able to keep him after moving. His previous family was heartbroken to rehome him and shared that they loved everything about him. In his home, Firo was reportedly housetrained, crate trained, walked well on leash, did well with children under 10, cats, and other dogs, and even enjoyed going to the dog park. His favorite activities were described as running, eating, and sleeping.Firo needs foster, rescue, or an adopter who can give him structure, decompression, and support so he has the chance to shine!Rescues email vcar.rescue@venturacounty.gov for more info!Fosters email vcar.foster@venturacounty.gov if interested in fostering him temporarily!Adopters, come in to meet him daily, 1pm-5:30pm, or email animal.care@venturacounty.gov to set up an appointment!
