Description

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet  Babygirl! Babygirl arrived at the rescue with two other dogs, her sister Faith and mother Lila, in May 2025. Babygirl  and the two other dogs were being cared for by an unhoused individual that loved all three of them dearly. The gentleman sought out help from an outreach organization to ensure all three girls were up- to - date on vaccines and spayed. The life of an unhoused person is hard enough without trying to care fo r three dogs. When the gentleman had to move locations again, out of love and in the best interest of the dogs, Labradors and Friends was contacted to see if we would help them. Babygirl  is super social with people and greets all volunteers with excitement. She is playful—particularly with squeaky toys —and an overall happy dog. She may pull at the start of a walk out of excitement, but she settles in nicely and walks well on leash overall. Her good leash skills often makes her a favorite at new volunteer orientations. She does well passing joggers, bicycles, and most dogs. If the dog is too focused on her, she will react back. She can also be afraid of busy traffic, particularly if the car is passing from behind, but she is improving over time and recovers quickly. Our volunteers have taken Babygirl  on a few adventures, and she did wonderfully. She rides well in the car,  often sprawled out in the backseat. At a café, she was able to settle on a mat next to the table, entertained by a few toys and quietly watching people and other dogs. Training her to lay on the mat was a breeze, so she is eager to learn. Babygirl is still working on her training, though she knows sit very well. She can be jumpy and mouthy, particularly with the people she loves the most. She just doesn’t know how to show her affection all the time! With a little consistency, she should learn to greet her people more politely and pick up on new skills. If  Babygirl sounds like a dog you'd like to meet, please fill out an application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.  Babygirl is located in Southern California.
