Description

* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 20th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Meet Wonka: The Chocolate-Covered Puppy with a Golden Ticket to Fun   If you've ever wondered what would happen if you combined a chocolate bar, a pogo stick, and a tiny wildlife documentary narrator, allow us to introduce Wonka.   This handsome 15-16 lb youngster is estimated to be around 7-9 months old and appears to be a Min Pin mix with striking chocolate coloring, oversized ears that stand at full attention, and enough personality to fill an entire candy factory. Wonka is still very much a puppy, and he approaches every day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and the firm belief that life is meant to be played.   A Day in the Life of Wonka   Wonka starts his mornings with a walk before breakfast because he prefers to handle his business while out exploring rather than in the yard. After breakfast, he's happy to settle nearby for a nap while his humans work. The afternoon usually includes another walk, followed by more napping and recharging for evening adventures.   As the weather cools down, Wonka is always ready for one of his favorite activities: fetch. This little athlete takes his retrieval duties very seriously and can turn almost anything into a game. After a final late-night walk, he sleeps soundly through the night in his crate beside his foster's bed.   Play First, Ask Questions Later   Wonka came to play, and he hasn't changed his mind.   He's energetic, playful, and always looking for his next adventure. Whether it's chasing a ball, exploring a new trail, or accompanying you on errands, Wonka is eager to be involved. He loves being with his people and is definitely a velcro dog who wants to know what you're doing at all times.   Like many smart puppies, he can become creative if left to entertain himself. Clothing, pillows, cords, and other household treasures may suddenly become fascinating chew toys. His future family should be prepared to continue all the normal puppy training, supervision, and management that help young dogs grow into wonderful adult companions.   The Mighty Hunter   Wonka may be small, but somewhere deep inside he believes he's a world-class hunter.   Squirrels? Intriguing.   Lizards? Absolutely.   Bugs? Fair game.   His foster reports that he would much rather patrol for critters in the yard than stop to potty there. On walks, however, he takes care of business without issue.   Life on Leash   Wonka enjoys his walks and is excited to meet the world. He can pull on leash, especially when he spots another dog he'd like to greet or a squirrel he'd like to investigate. Continued leash training will help him learn that not every creature in the neighborhood is available for personal introductions.   A Puppy with Opinions   Wonka isn't shy about expressing himself. If left alone in a crate in another room, he'll let you know he'd rather be included in the festivities. Fortunately, after a few minutes of voicing his objections, he settles down nicely.   One of his funniest quirks is his fascination with children. He has been known to sit quietly in parks and simply watch kids playing, as though he's studying for an important exam. He also appears to enjoy watching television, making him an excellent candidate for family movie nights.   Wonka's Perfect Home   Wonka would thrive with an active family committed to helping a young dog continue learning and growing. He would especially love a playful canine companion who can match his energy and help burn off some of that puppy enthusiasm.   His ideal family will appreciate his affectionate nature, laugh at his antics, provide plenty of exercise and enrichment, and understand that puppies don't arrive fully assembled.   Why You'll Love Him   Wonka is cute, confident, adventurous, and always ready to join whatever you're doing. He has a low-maintenance short coat, a face that turns heads wherever he goes, and ears that deserve their own fan club.   Most of all, he has that special spark that makes life more entertaining. Whether he's launching into a game of fetch, monitoring neighborhood wildlife, or sitting beside you watching the world go by, Wonka brings joy, laughter, and plenty of personality wherever he goes.   If you're looking for a fun-loving sidekick who's equal parts athlete, explorer, cuddle buddy, and comedian, Wonka may just be your golden ticket.
