Hello! I am a beautiful girl and I came to OCAS as a transfer from another shelter. Staff noted that I was friendly and good for handling during my intake process. Please consider making me part of your home!Insights from my adventure buddies and foster friends:`An absolute sweetheart. She plays a little rough. A cuddlebug who loves to get on the couch and sit/ play right next to you. She’s a lap dog in a pittie body. A Velcro dog who wants to be where the people are. Loves rolling in the grass and belly rubs. Expressed curiosity about the cat but was not aggressive or attacking. Very excited about the dog but plays a little too rough for my senior dog. Pulls a little on leash but is easily corrected. Jumps to greet but is easily corrected. Responds well to praise and prefers stuffies over firmer toys. Doesn’t seem to be food aggressive. Prefers wet food over dry food but loves treats.``We went on a 2-ish mile walk around some trails in downtown Hillsborough. She walks really well on a leash and doesn’t pull unless she sees a squirrel (of which we saw a few). She really loved getting to greet all of the other walkers on the trail. She did well with a small child that ran up to her, showing no reaction and allowing the child to pet her. We also got a pup cup from Starbucks on our way back to the shelter. Mae Mae was very excited about this and enthusiastically devoured her treat. Mae Mae is super adaptable! Whether we were walking outside or driving in the car or resting at home she was down for anything, and didn’t put up a fight when leaving any location.``Mae Mae was so great! She is very loving and energetic. And when I say energetic, she never runs out of energy. All she wanted to do was play, walk, or run. She was very attentive and wanted to check out everything at first, but a quick pull at the leash and she kept it moving. She definitely was interested in every weed or squirrel she saw but by the end of the day she no longer chased squirrels or tried to eat weeds. She would be perfect for any family that is very active. She loves to roll around as well, and loves belly rubs! She is such a sweet girl and any family would be lucky to have her! We got a pup cup from Starbucks first, then we went on a long walk around Franklin street. Then we took a rest at the house and went on a long run around UNC campus almost immediately after. We walked through the Coker arboretum and explored a lot of the area. Then we went home to lay down for a bit and finished out with a walk around the neighborhood. She is so full of energy and just wants to play and be loved. She seems to get a little overstimulated by other dogs and barks, so she could use more training on that. She’s such a sweetie and will be happy with any loving family that takes her in!``Mae Mae got her leash on and knew the drill, she beelined it to the parking lot to find her chariot. Great, behaved little car rider, down for any adventure we threw at her. I had a young man with autism with me, he can make loud, surprising sounds and loves to sprint, she was not fazed by any of it. In fact, I think she embraced it, she seemed to catch on quickly they were happy sounds and she loved our `pack sprints` at the park :) loved that she was not overly interested in strangers, myself included, but she was completely cool splooting out letting anyone give her love. She did seem to gravitate toward some young kids we saw and she was a perfectly behaved lady, no jumping or overly excited behavior, just let them love on her. She is a critter hunter - pounces towards squirrels and birds but she wasn't gonna pull me down. Deer, she spotted them very far away and she was definitely more motivated by them. Pulls to start on the leash but eases in, would make great hiking material. She was also VERY interested in other dogs, I'd say overly interested; I would want to let her calm down and lose some interest before greeting other dogs for a successful proper introduction. She was cool being back at the shelter, she seemed happy to see the staff, if I had to bet, she will bond quickly to 'her person' and be a little Velcro dog happy for adventure with you or to just chill in your presence.`
