General info
Description
Silver is a male cat who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) and is currently showing no clinical signs of illness. However, Silver has been exposed to feline panleukopenia virus (FPV), a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, dehydration, and immune suppression, particularly in unvaccinated or vulnerable cats.Due to this known exposure, Silver requires strict quarantine, close monitoring, and supportive care during the incubation period to watch for the development of any clinical signs. This level of isolation and observation exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his exposure risk, Silver remains bright, social, and is doing well at this time.Silver needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can complete his quarantine period and receive prompt veterinary care if signs of illness develop. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care and isolation required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
