Meet Bijou Six months ago, Bijou arrived at Homeward Bound after being rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. She came to us pink, hairless, and so frightened that the world around her felt like a very scary place. She needed extensive medical care, patience, and—perhaps most importantly—someone to show her that life could be different.And slowly, one tiny step at a time, Bijou began to blossom. Every milestone was a celebration. The first time she felt safe. The first time she trusted a person. The first time she realized a gentle touch didn’t have to hurt. The first time she discovered a toy—and decided she absolutely loved them! Six months later, Bijou is looking and feeling better than ever. She has learned that people can be kind, that she is worthy of love, and that love is something to be treasured. The once-terrified little girl who was afraid of the world has transformed into a happy, playful pup who is ready to experience everything life has to offer.And boy, does this girl know how to have fun! In her foster home, Bijou attends doggy day camp every day and has become the life of the party. She loves playing, making friends, and soaking up every bit of fun she can find.Watching Bijou go from terrified and shut down to confident, joyful, and loving life has truly been the transformation of the year. ❤️But her journey isn’t over yet.
