Description

Duque was found as a stray dog in Pueblo, CO. He was transferred to the Denver shelter where we adopted him. He is very reactive to other dogs and some people. He barks a lot and pulls on the leash towards them when going on walks. He has gotten better to the point where I can get him to sit or lie down usually when he starts reacting. He is very protective of me and the kids. He has never shown any aggression towards me or my 8 & 10 year old. Unfortunately, yesterday while camping I asked one of the camp hosts to help pull up a tent stake that we could not get out of the ground. Duque was fine until the gentleman grabbed a shovel and stepped towards the campsite. Once Duque saw the shovel he lunged at the man and bit him on the side. Animal control issued us a warning and if Duque bites again he will be considered a dangerous animal. I cannot take the chance that he will bite someone again and need to find a safe home for him. The kids have friends over and I need to keep them and Duque safe. Right now rehoming him is an option but if he bites again it is likely that he will need to be put down. He is a smart, sweet dog and needs a quieter home with someone who has experience with traumatized dogs that have shown aggression. Again, he has never shown aggression towards us. He just get hyper protective. **** Breed: Unknown **** Pet Link: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2199105&flag=1
