Duchess is a petite 30-pound sweetheart with a story of strength, resilience, and hope. Life hasn't always been kind to her, and she carries several scars from past attacks by other dogs. While those scars tell part of her story, they don't define who she is today. Because of her difficult past, Duchess can be a little nervous when meeting new people and experiencing new situations. She needs a patient family willing to give her the time and space to feel safe. Once she realizes she's among friends, her sweet personality begins to shine through. One of the fastest ways to win Duchess's heart is with a squeaky toy! She absolutely loves them and can often be found happily carrying one around or squeaking it with delight. She also has a special soft spot for kids and enjoys spending time with gentle, respectful children. Duchess is looking for a family that will see beyond her scars and appreciate the loving, deserving dog underneath.
