Description

Meet Montero — He’s Been Waiting Long Enough We cannot believe Montero is still waiting for his forever home. This sweet boy has spent almost his entire life in foster care, and after everything he's been through, all he wants is a place to finally call home. Montero came into foster care as a tiny, bottle-fed baby. His foster family watched him grow from a fragile little bottle baby into the big, handsome boy he is today. He has been loved and cared for every step of the way—but somehow, he still hasn't found his forever family. And honestly? He's getting pretty tired of moving around. Over the past year, Montero has been moved around in foster care and in and out of cage spots at pet stores. We've learned something important about him along the way: Montero doesn't need a busy life. He needs a peaceful one.Larger spaces, lots of people, and lots of cats can be overwhelming for him. Adoption events, store adoption spots, and cat cafés are simply too stressful, and when he's stressed, his shy side comes out. Unfortunately, that means people don't always get to see the wonderful cat hiding underneath. But give Montero a quiet home, a little patience, and someone willing to dote on him, and you get to meet the real Montero. Once he's comfortable, this boy is energetic, curious, playful, and incredibly affectionate. He loves sitting beside his people and being petted, and he absolutely does not believe in choosing between zoomies and cuddles. One minute he's racing around the house having a full-blown case of the zoomies, and the next he's curled up beside you asking for pets. He's especially active at night, so his forever family should be prepared for some hilarious after-dark adventures! He doesn't mind being held and is incredibly sweet with people he trusts. What he really wants is someone who will play with him, dote on him, and curl up beside him at the end of the day.Montero also has one little feature that makes him extra special. When he was a tiny baby, he had an eye infection that left his right eye looking a little smaller and cloudy. Thankfully, it doesn't slow this boy down one bit! He sees the world just fine and runs, plays, explores, and gets the zoomies like any other cat. We think his unique little eye just adds to his charm and makes his already-handsome face even more memorable. As for other cats, Montero would probably be happiest as the sole ruler of his kingdom. He's had some unfortunate experiences with resident cats who swatted at him and hissed, and those interactions have made him understandably nervous around other kitties. Having other cats around can be stressful for him, but he has also gotten along with other foster cats in the right environment. If he were to live with another cat, that kitty would need to be exceptionally laid-back and friendly, and Montero would need a slow, thoughtful introduction with plenty of time to adjust.Montero can also be shy with new people and may take some time to come out of his shell. But once he decides you're safe, you get to see the silly, playful, cuddly boy we've known all along. And that's why we're asking someone to look past the stressed Montero they might see at an adoption event and give him a chance to show you who he really is.He doesn't need a giant house. He doesn't need a house full of people. He doesn't need to be the life of the party. He doesn't even need another cat.He just needs a person who will let him finally stop moving and start living. Someone who will play with him.Someone who will dote on him.Someone who will let him curl up beside them.Someone who will give him the time to say, “Okay… I trust you.” Montero is still a young boy despite being a big boy, and he has so much life left to live and so much love to give. He went from a tiny bottle baby who needed someone to save him to the handsome, goofy, affectionate cat he is today... Now he just needs someone to finish the story.Montero has been waiting long enough. Could you be the peaceful forever home he's been looking for?
