Description

Want to meet me? Come to Underdog Rescue Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, June 7th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Luca is the kind of dog who makes people smile the moment they meet him. Maybe it’s his perpetually happy expression, his adorable trot, or those fabulously fluffy ears that seem to have a personality all their own. Whatever it is, this sweet boy has a way of winning hearts everywhere he goes.   At just over a year old, Luca is the perfect combination of playful adventure buddy and affectionate cuddle bug. He loves to run, play, and spend time outdoors, but when it’s time to relax, his favorite place is right next to his people. In fact, if you start sitting down on the couch, don’t be surprised if Luca beats you there and wedges himself under your arm before you’ve even settled into your seat. He absolutely loves being close to his family.   Luca is happiest when he has a chance to stretch his legs. He adores being outside and would spend hours exploring the yard if given the opportunity. While a fenced yard is not required since he walks beautifully on a leash, it would certainly be a dream come true for this outdoor enthusiast. He gets excited the moment he sees his leash and is a joy to walk—no pulling, no drama, just a happy companion trotting along by your side while mostly ignoring other people and dogs.   This playful boy gets along wonderfully with dog-friendly dogs of all sizes. Whether he’s wrestling with a 12-pound playmate or running full speed with a 60-pound Labrador, Luca is always ready for fun. He enjoys having canine friends and loves to play, but he does not require another dog in the home as long as his humans are around most of the time. More than anything, Luca wants to be part of the family.   Luca is fully potty trained, kennel trained, rides happily in the car, and has already completed puppy training classes. While he can sleep in a kennel, he’d much rather curl up with his people if given the choice. He’s trustworthy in the house and can be left out without getting into trouble—although sticks in the yard are another story. For reasons known only to Luca, they seem to be a favorite snack.   While Luca is generally a confident, happy-go-lucky dog, he can be a little shy when meeting new people. Loud voices make him uncomfortable, and he appreciates gentle introductions. Once he knows you’re a friend, however, his sweet personality shines through.   Luca is a wonderful size—small enough to fit comfortably into your life but sturdy enough for adventures. With his soft coat, fluffy ears, playful spirit, and endless affection, he’s truly the total package. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves to play hard, cuddle harder, and be by your side through every part of the day, Luca just might be your perfect match. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
