Adoption fee: $500 Meet Marzipan: Sweet, Spunky, and Full of Love   When Marzipan's beloved owner passed away, this little 15-pound Chi mix lost the person she adored most. It’s clear she was deeply loved, and everyone involved in her journey has made her a promise: to find her the wonderful home she deserves next.   At 9 years old, Marzipan proves that age is just a number. She's healthy, active, and always ready for an adventure. Whether it's a long neighborhood walk, an enthusiastic game of fetch, or a cozy evening curled up next to her favorite human, Marzipan is happiest when she's sharing life with her people.   Daily Life with Marzipan   Marzipan starts her mornings around 7 AM with a quick trip to the backyard, followed immediately by breakfast. She's not particularly impressed by plain kibble and has developed refined tastes over the years— adding a little wet food or tuna to the mix earns enthusiastic approval.   After breakfast comes one of her favorite activities: a morning walk. She enjoys several walks throughout the day and still has plenty of stamina for longer outings. Between adventures, Marzipan is the perfect office companion. She happily lounges in a dog bed nearby while her foster works, patiently waiting for attention rather than demanding it.   In the evening, she enjoys another longer walk, some cuddle time, and occasionally a spirited game of fetch. Before bed, she heads out for one final potty break and then settles into her crate for the night. She sleeps quietly through the night and has developed a positive relationship with her crate— especially since it occasionally rains cheese.   A Loyal Little Shadow   When Marzipan first arrived, she was quiet, submissive, and a bit unsure of herself. As she settled in, her true personality began to shine. She became more interactive, more playful, and much more confident.   She forms strong bonds with her people and loves being involved in whatever they're doing. For the first few days she followed her foster from room to room, but as her confidence grew, she became comfortable relaxing independently when she felt secure.   Marzipan is incredibly affectionate. If there's an open lap, a couch cushion, or even a small corner of a chair available, she'll happily claim it and snuggle up beside you. Her favorite place is simply wherever her people happen to be.   Fetch Enthusiast Extraordinaire   Don't let the gray around her muzzle fool you— Marzipan still knows how to have fun.   Her energy is often highest in the mornings, and that's when her love of fetch really shines. She'll proudly bring her ball over, drop it at your feet, and stare expectantly until you participate. If you hesitate, she'll gently nudge the ball toward you with her nose or paw as a helpful reminder.   In Marzipan's opinion, there is no such thing as too much fetch.   She also has an adorable happy dance reserved for special occasions. Mention the word "walk" and she'll start spinning excited circles. Come home after being gone, and she may literally jump for joy.   Smart Cookie Seeking Cheese   Marzipan is highly food motivated, especially when cheese is involved. In fact, she firmly believes cheese should be considered a major food group.   She's already mastered "sit" and is eagerly working on additional commands. Training sessions are one of her favorite activities because they combine learning, attention, and snacks. Her current interpretation of "down" looks a bit like a canine push-up— she briefly touches the floor, pops right back up, and looks extremely proud of herself.   Walking Companion with Opinions   Marzipan is a pleasant walking buddy most of the time. She enjoys getting out and exploring the neighborhood and walks nicely on leash when the environment is calm.   Her biggest challenge is that she can be reactive toward other dogs while on leash. If she spots one, she may bark, pull, and put on quite a dramatic performance. Her foster learned that giving other dogs plenty of space helps her stay comfortable and successful.   Although she is leash reactive, she can coexist with other dogs when off leash. She's not particularly interested in playing with them though. She would be a great option as a solo dog or could share a home with other dogs who don't try to engage in play.   Home Sweet Home   Marzipan is fully house-trained and crate-trained. She has had no accidents in foster care and sleeps quietly through the night.   She has lived with a cat and is more curious than aggressive, though her enthusiasm can be a bit overwhelming for feline friends who prefer personal space. A dog-savvy or confident cat may do well with her.   Marzipan's Perfect Match   Marzipan is looking for a home that appreciates the best of both worlds: a dog who can join you on walks and adventures, then happily curl up beside you for a nap afterward.   She thrives on companionship, affection, and being included in daily life. Most of all, Marzipan is searching for someone to love as wholeheartedly as she loves them.
