Description

Meet Miles, the confident and highly energetic mix (we are guessing Malinois/Border collie)! He came to use as a stray, so we don’t know anything about his previous home. Miles is a smarty-pants who would benefit HIGHLY from positive reinforcement based training as he is a little chaotic and high energy. He will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep his mind occupied and burn off all that puppy energy! Miles is most likely going to be a large breed dog and will also be quite strong, so any potential adopters should plan to have children and resident dogs meet prior to adoption. He will need to be introduced to cats slowly and respectfully as we have no idea if he has met any previously. He has remained active, vocal and incredibly engaged at the shelter, and luckily for training purposes he is very food motivated! Despite his can-do attitude, he is still very young and should grow up indoors to ensure his needs are met and that his life is enriched. If you are wanting a smart, playful puppy to fill your life with glee, come meet Miles today!Miles is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
